Tommie Nuinez Bullock, 93 of Smiley, passed away May 19, 2016, in Gonzales. She was born August 6, 1922, in Smiley, to the late Christian and Nora Smith Spellman.
She married Joe Edward Nuinez on April 24, 1942, in Gonzales. They had three children: Joe Jr, Chris and Elizabeth. Tommie was preceded in death by her husband, Joe and son, Chris. She married Harlan L. Bullock on December 24, 1995, and he preceded her in death also.
Tommie lived most of her life in the “home place” in Smiley, where she enjoyed country living, painting and life in general. She was an active life-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Smiley, a member of DAR, Old 300, and UMW. She worked outside the home at various places including Chessher’s Chicken Plant in Nixon, the Yorktown Produce and had her own realty company in Yorktown.
Tommie is survived by her son, Joe and daughter, Elizabeth, their spouses and various grand-children, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6–8 p.m. on Monday, May 23 at Finch Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be at Westside Cemetery at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 24.
Memorial donations may be made to the Spellman Cemetery, Smiley Public Library or Yorktown Library.
