Paul Mainka, Sr., 82, of Andrews passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 in Odessa.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Steve Wolfe officiating.  Interment will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.  Please celebrate his life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.
Paul was born on January 25, 1935 in Weesatche, Texas to Theodor Mainka and Rosalie Guzy Mainka.  He was raised in Yorktown, Texas and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1955.  He played football and baseball at Ranger Junior College.  He married Vonnie Laverne Shook on January 21, 1958 in Ranger.  They moved to Andrews in 1958.  He had worked in the oil field as a roughneck and had worked 25 years for the County of Andrews Courthouse and Parks Department.  He was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Andrews and was Catholic.  He loved working in his garden, and had a green thumb in growing unique and large vegetables.  He loved to work and tinker on things around the home.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Paul is survived by his wife, Vonnie Mainka of Andrews; 3 sons, Paul Mainka, Jr., and wife, Tracy, of Andrews, Richard Mainka and wife, Dorothy, of Gardendale, and David Mainka and wife, Rebecca, of Bangs, TX; one sister, Elisabeth Friedrichs of Meyersville, TX; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
