Evelyn Bolds

Evelyn Bolds entered into eternal rest on Sept. 26, 2016 at the age of 79.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1937 to the late Ned and Arlinda Wilson Battles in Cuero.

Ms. Bolds worked for 45 years in long term care as an administrator, marketing admission, social and recreation activities, and was a lobbyist for the elderly.

She is survived by her daughter Shirley Lewis; brothers Minister James Jackson, Sr., Ned Battles, and Troy Battles; sisters Norma Mayfield and Pearline Burton; grandchildren Rev. Virgil Lewis, Minister Terrence Lewis, Krishnar Lewis, and Chandra Joi (Keith) Wade; great grandchildren Jared Nichols, Allegria Lewis Wright, J’Khaylaughn Lewis, James Lewis, Justice Lewis, JaNe’ Lewis Odoms, Tyrese Lewis, Jordan Lewis Odoms, Micah Lewis, Jaliona Lewis, Malachi Lewis, Keith Lewis Wade, Joseph Wade and Jaene Lewis.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn Pleasants; brother, Julius Carl Jackson; sisters, Christine Odoms and Mable Polk; and grandson Micah Pleasants.

A Celebration of Life for Evelyn will be held Friday evening, Sept. 30 beginning at 6 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel (formerly Heritage Funeral Home) with Bishop Paula Hopkins, officiating. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 1 beginning at noon at St. Paul Baptist Church in Brookshire, Texas with Pastor Charlie Tryles III, officiating; followed by a graveside service at 4:30 p.m. at Woodman Cemetery in Cuero.
